Pioneer Nazarene missionaries initiated their work in India in 1898. Their Missionary efforts resulted in establishing First Church in Buldana in 1919. This ministry prospered and took shape of a District in 1937. Now it is called Central Maharashtra District (CMD) of the Church of the Nazarene (previously called Eastern Maharashtra District).
A tree planted in the shape of Central Maharashtra District has grown to be the India Field of the Church of the Nazarene today.
Lord has developed great leaders for the Field from CMD. Several Leaders of India Field find their roots in this Mother District of the Church of the Nazarene in India.
Geographically CMD was widespread from Aurangabad to Nagpur until it was divided in to Eastern and Central in 1992.
Now it works mainly in Buldana, Jalna, Aurangabad and Jalgaon Districts of Maharashtra State and is spreading in to Dhulia District of Maharashtra State as well as southern districts of of Madhya Pradesh.
The District has 216 Organized Churches. All churches are self-supporting. To date we have 400+ Church Type Missions waiting to be organized into churches. All the Churches are experiencing spiritual fervor.
